Our Story
How we started
In 2022, a TU Delft minor took me all the way to Ghana — a journey that changed everything. Together with a friend, I spent my days at Tumi Ghana, where we met incredible women who were educating each other to build their own livelihoods, grow in confidence and become (financially) independent. They are trained seamstresses, full of skill and creativity, but with limited opportunities to share their talent with the world.
Listening to their stories of resilience, womanhood, and the confidence they were building through their work touched us deeply. I knew I could help create a bridge — connecting their talent with people like you, who believe in socially responsible and meaningful items.
With open minds and a shared dream, we combined our design and sewing skills — and created our first collection of waistcoats.
Our Story
Co-Creation
Today, we work closely with two talented seamstresses, communicating through WhatsApp messages, photos, and calls. After every production, we take time to reflect together — exchanging feedback, celebrating what went well, and improving while respecting our different cultures.
Their salary is handled locally by the NGO Tumi Ghana Women Empowerment Centre & Hostel. Our goal is to scale organically in order to sustain our strong intercultural connection and joy in our work.
Our Story
Young Female Entrepreneurs
Due to my privileged position, I feel like anything is possible. The journey begins with believing in yourself, building your self-esteem, and daring to take the first step. Too often, women feel pressured to be perfect before they start—perfectly prepared, perfectly confident, perfectly ready. But the truth is, you don’t need to be perfect to chase your dreams.
What matters is having the courage to begin, to embrace opportunities, and to trust that you are capable of growing along the way. Every challenge is a chance to learn.
We want to encourage women everywhere to grab the chances they get, to step forward even when it feels scary, and to remember that their voice and presence matter.
